Mafka & Alakoski online store terms of use

This online store is the online store platform of Mafka & Alakoski Oy, a glass studio specializing in art and utility glass operating in Finland. The purpose of the website is to serve as the glass studio's home page, information channel and online store.
As a user of the online store, you agree to act in accordance with the laws and regulations and the terms of use presented on this website. We can block a user's visit to our site if we have reason to suspect fraudulent activity, shady intentions or other activity that disrupts the daily operations of our company and online store.
Use of the online store
Through our online store, it is possible to order both physical products (typically glassware) and electronically delivered products (e.g. gift cards). The delivery of physical products involves processing time (typically around 5 business days) and handling and postage costs, which are included in the total amount of the order. There are no handling or postage costs associated with electronically delivered products, and they are practically delivered immediately.
At the moment, we only deliver physical objects to Finland, because sending glass objects by post is tedious and always involves risks beyond our control. In the future, we hope to expand our market area to other EU countries as well.
When placing an order, you commit to hand over your real personal and contact information required for processing the order, and to use the payment methods to which you are legally entitled. You also declare that you are of legal age.
Ordering and delivery
The customer pays for his order online using the secure Paytrail service provider. After payment, the ordered products are delivered to the customer. Delivery of an order containing physical items typically takes about 5-7 business days, electronic gift card orders are completed practically immediately.
Inventory balances of online stores and brick-and-mortar stores
We try to keep the inventory of our online store as up-to-date as possible, but it is possible that in some rare situations the stock balances of the products do not correspond to reality. If the customer orders a product that is no longer in stock, we will contact the user and agree on a case-by-case basis how to proceed (send a replacement product, manufacture a new similar product in which case the delivery may be slightly delayed, cancel the order, etc.).
Calendar reservations for blowing events
For the first time, we are experimenting with an electronic reservation calendar, through which our online store customers can reserve a time that suits them for blowing.
The electronic reservation calendar is provided by Servicify (privacy statement, rules) operating on the Shopify platform, which processes the information needed to make a calendar reservation, such as the e-mail address of the booker and billing information (incl. payment method information) in order to provide the calendar reservation service. Servicify processes information related to calendar reservations outside the EU, for example in North America, so if you do not want to hand over the information required for a calendar reservation to the Servicify service, please make calendar reservations outside of the online store by phone or email.
It is possible that unexpected challenges and problem situations will occur during the implementation of the reservation calendar system. We ask our customers to be patient if something unexpected occurs regarding calendar reservations. All problem situations are resolved in a way that satisfies the customer. In case of problems, you can contact us during our opening hours by phone or at any time by email.
Validity period of gift cards
Gift cards purchased through our online store are valid for 12 months from the time of purchase, unless otherwise stated.
Payment service provider
Paytrail Oyj (2122839-7) operates as the payment intermediary service provider and in cooperation with Finnish banks and credit institutions. Paytrail Oyj appears as the recipient of the payment on the bank statement or card invoice and forwards the payment to the merchant. Paytrail Oyj has a payment institution license. In cases of complaints, we ask that you first contact the supplier of the product.
